Coming to the City of Cuyahoga Falls: NextGen Meter Project
Advancing Our Utility Infrastructure
In the coming months, the City of Cuyahoga Falls will be kicking off its NextGen Meter Project. The water and electric meters we're currently using are reaching the end of their useful life. So, the City decided to upgrade to a more modern, advanced metering infrastructure, just as many cities have done. The City is partnering with Utility Metering Solutions (UMS) to replace all water and electric meters over the next few years.
How Will the NextGen Meter Project Benefit the Residents of Cuyahoga Falls?
- The NextGen Meter Project consists of both new water meters and electric meters.
- These new meters can be read remotely with increased efficiency. Due to their advanced water and electricity usage measurement capabilities, customers can expect their billing dates to be more consistent from month to month. What's more, they'll help the City better address residents' questions about their usage.
- The new water meters will greatly improve the City's ability to proactively detect leaks at individual residences and along distribution lines to reduce water loss, conserve water, and improve the City's ability to repair pipes efficiently.
- The new electric meters will allow for immediate power outage notification to the City and will help provide outage restoration information more quickly in the future.
- This project will make the City a more efficient and greener community.
